because life's beautiful.: #10. funfair! :D

Woke up very early in the morning cos i simply couldn’t sleep. Wanted to catch the sunrise since it was still dark but i was too lazy to get out of my bed. So i ended up listening my ipod for one hour plus. Then after that i went out for a morning walk and the morning sky and weather is splendid! :D love it deep deep. I think i’ll miss it loads once i’m gone!

After breakfast we prepared funfair stuffs (: basically just folded cranes with the rest of the girls then htht-ed and set up the place. Lunch was late today at 2+, but it was worth the wait! The ayam soup was super goooooood. :D even better than the one we had on the day team one left for the village! Haha the coconut taste was simply awesome :D and ayam was yummmmyyyy!

After lunch, we took all our logistics out to the field and by 3+ we started the funfair :D the games are actually very fun and playable! And though the response wasn’t very good with only the children from the home and some of their family members and teachers, it was fulfilling :D glad to see that all the kids were super happy playing the games and getting their prizes! Heh. Aileen dan and i were at the prizes redemption area and we were like super busy. Omg. But looking at the children’s faces made it all worth it.

So the funfair ended at 6+. I think through the funfair we managed to bring about a few concepts to the kids – queueing, how marketing and money works, and how to be satisfied with what they have even though they might not want it initially. :) even though the sun was very hot i think everyone did well :D thank God for no rain! :)

After the funfair, we played tug of war with the children from the home! :D guys vs guys and girls vs girls, both 2 matches! And we won all 4! Hahaha super happy. We (the girls) really thought we would have lost to the girls since the girls at the home were really strong! Looking at the things they normally do and carry were telling enough. Heh but i guess teamwork and strategy gave us the lead after all. And of course, good nutrition and loads of ayam. :D hahaha. Glad the guys were there to give us the “one-two-pull” timing! It was really crucial. (:

After all the packing up, we went back to our dorm to wash up then waited for dinner (: dinner was late again at about 9, but the wait was worth it once again! :D simply loved the curry chicken they specially prepared for us. Seriously i think this whole experience felt more like a vacation than an ocip trip. With all the junk food, luxury items, and rather constant diet consisting of ayam, we really didn’t suffer a single bit of discomfort. But nevertheless i hope we made an impact to the community in nias by at least bringing them happiness during this period of two weeks (:

Was simply too tired today so didn’t do much after dinner, plus the kids were all gone. Didn’t get to play with them. ): and the kids actually look quite sad that jemloi was no longer around. And talking about that the girls didn’t manage to send him off! ): we were forgotten. Sighhhh. Really felt bad for not sending loi off to the gate at least.... mbuk!
