Today i prepared lunch at the kitchen! After eating so many meals, i finally got a taste of preparing so much foo for everyone and the amount of patience and skill needed to do so. The combination of efforts of seven people and the immese amount of strength needed to prepare and cook the ingredients. Processing them to the food in front of my table is definitely not an easy task, and so i promise to finish all my food :D
Went to the beach with the kids after that. The beach was quiet pretty, but what made it prettier is the sight of the children enjoying themselves in it. I’ve finally bonded well with the kids, especially the little girls Mei Ernie etc. And arkhimi! Knowing that it is not often that they get to visit the beach, i wanted them to enjoy themselves as far as possible. This is both enjoyable and fulfilling (: loadsss of loveeeee :D
Afternoon was somewhat relaxing, and jean aileen ying and i went to support the guy’s match against the other children. Quoting aileen, a guy looks best when he is playing sports. True to a large extent :P
After devotion, i created the toy cars with the boys, rather Alphine. We suffered a lot of setbacks because the instructions were seriously unclear! And the parts weren’t exactly well constructed so we had to use some brute force. And when we finally created the final product, the car couldn’t move! The mechanism was faulty ): all the other kids were already playing happily with their new toys that they created and he looked extremely disappointed when he didn’t have anything to play.
I was devastated, at the same time, really guilty. I felt like a total failure and a loser. It was lie i can’t even make a child that was much less than me attain this little bit of joy. I really wanted him to smile and laugh and be proud of his work just like any of the other boys were. It was supposed to be so simple, but i took the process of attaining happiness for granted. I really really need to think about my idea of happiness is. And for once, i realised what i thought i knew all along can be destroyed at a single moment by a young innocent kids.
I made a second car for him in the end. And this time, i made sure it was good. Thankfully when he received it he was smiling brim to brim. (: but somehow i felt like i have no face to face him anymore. It’s getting harder. Thankfully sihui told me that he was super happy an even went to tell his friends about his cars. Sihui made one for him too. i really hope that alphine can be happy from the bottom of his heart.
It’s been a long day and so far the most impactful one. Time to sleep.
