Today’s the last day at the orphanage. Woke up quite early to pack up, eat breakfast, then play with the kids. Everyone exuded a tinge of sadness within them even though we were having fun together. It’s just the thought of separation and the love we shared together these few days just made it harder to part.
We did many things together, like play some random games, talked, sang songs, and just sat around. But what i remembered most is when we (mei, ernie, wati, Charles then yusri) took turns to pray for each other’s well being. Even though i couldn’t understand their prayer, but i could totally feel their sincerity. And what made it even more touching is when they volunteered to pray themselves, especially only when mei and i prayed initially. They are such cute little things! (: but i really hope that they’ll grow up to become strong, beautiful girls.
After playing for an hour plus, it was time for us to leave. Wati nicely pulled my luggage all the way to the van for me, and refused to let me take it instead. And the girls kept telling us not to leave and to come back in the future, but i don’t have the ability to make promises, which just made me more depressed. Sigh.
Finally, we were all ready to enter the van and leave. Many of the kids were crying, and i couldn’t help to shed tears too especially when the pastor prayed for us. Thankfully i managed to keep the rest in. I want to be glad that i came, and not sad that i was leaving. And i’m truthfully glad that God brought me to this place, where the kids love God more than i do, and where the kids influenced me to grow closer to Him. I really want to be part of them now, as their family.
Erni told me that i’m her number one! Haha, that made me really happy and sad at the same time. I loveeee erni deep deep!
So we left for the airport, and some of the kids joined us. Poor erni was puking from motion sickness! So sad! Sigh despite having motion sickness so easily she still insisted on sending us off ): along the way we dropped by a shop to get some tango and drinks.
At the airport after checking in our luggage, matthew and i decided to complete our challenge of our A&W root beer float! Haha so all we decided to do is to throw a rock and see whose rock lands closest to the line on the road! Super funny hahaha! And super irritating i actually lost the bet! Roars. Angry angry. But it was super duper fun. Lols! Entertainment value worth the root beer float really.
While waiting for the plane we continued to interact with the kids for the last time. Erni was still feeling sick from the motion sickness and sadness overwhelmed her. I didn’t bear to see her sad face really, wanted to see her smile because she’s really pretty when she smiles! Charles was also giving me that teary eyes. Sigh. Thankfully akhimi’s a really brave and strong boy so he was accepting it well. But i knew that he was sad within. So was hendrikcrus and the rest of the boys.
When we were finally on the plane and taking off, i could still the kids waving at us from the airport. They were waving so bigly that even though we were already super far away from them we could still see their hands. We hope they saw ours too even though our windows were small.
The trip back was quite scary. The air wasn’t smooth and there were multiple air pockets so we experienced quite a bit of turbulence. It was super bumpy! But i still the propeller plane is very very cool. Heh! And of course we reached safely at medan. Met poly there and then took the van and car to our hotel, and once we reached our hotel, we were super amazed and what we saw! It was the OLD MAN!!!!! THE OLD MAN CALLED KENTUCKY! Like super amazing. AYAMMMMM.
And so after checking in to our room and shifting our luggage up, we went straight to kfc for our overdose of ayam!! And it was super good. Like food from heaven! Haha and i super love the fries and the pepsi. Super unhealthy but super shiok! Hahah. Oh no, when i go back i shall have no more fast food. And we’re planning on eating a&w tomorrow!
After finishing our kfc, we went to sun plaza to walk around. And soon we found ourselves shopping! Heh. But initially there was really a culture shock, like i haven’t seen such civilisation in ages! Haha. Sun plaza is supposed to be the biggest and one of the most atas places in medan, and it really lives up to it reputation. It’s like plaza sing actually. Heh. The shops there were quite familiar too, with brands like breadtalk and osim and ripcurl etc. And i bought a nice skirt from the SENSE over there! :D
After running around, we met the rest at the nelayan restaurant to eat dimsum (we were too full from kfc). It was not bad! The first of all Singaporean foods. Haha. Then after that we decided to do some manicure since aileen and cuixia came back from it and were full of praises! Haha and manicure’s actually quite shiok. I feel like my fingernails are sparkling clean! Haha. It’s unlike me to do manicure because i’ve always thought its quite ex and my nails chip off really quickly, especially during training. So i shall be happy for the next 3 days before i head down to the pool for training again haha! Heh the manicure place is run by Indonesian Chinese and so we actually could communicate with her! And the other two customers were indon Chinese too and they were really friendly! Apparently when she heard that we came to do social work, she was super enthusiastic because she did social work in indon too :D so she was like offering us her coach (she owns some travel agency i think) and said that shes willing to bring us around medan! Really really nice of her. This gave me another reason to come back to medan really.
And the manicuring was super shiokkkk. Hahaha. I have pretty pretty nails now :) i hope they can last as long as possible! :D
