trying to gain access to my old hdd which was taken out from my desktop (which spoilt). 
i hope i can recover all my documents!
more importantly, i hope my travel log on the awesome nz trip is inside :(

goodbye.


Resilient? No. Determined? Nah. Strong? Definitely not.

All the qualities that may be key to last long in the organisation, I don't have it. How long more? I ask myself. It's no longer a matter of whether to leave or not, its just a matter of when.

I think it's really the suicide effect. When someone close leaves, the same thoughts would naturally come. Now that one would be gone, probably meant that my workload would probably increase by a large proportion again, which would only serve the strengthen all the push factors.

Definitely not getting strength from the work I do, the sole reason I may be here is the people I'm with. I don't see anything wrong with it, just happens that its not going to bring me through all the shit once they are gone, or once the shit outweighs all the fun I'm having.

Looks like I really have to take these 5 days to properly think abt what I'm going to do for the next bits of my life. I don't want to live with regrets, and no matter how people talk about living their dream or pursuing their passions, sometimes what we really need is having that cash to do it. Where I am is definitely giving me the express route when it comes to this. (I'm being very practical here.) I just have to decide how long I'll need to sacrifice to simply have the ability to pursue my passions.

Meanwhile, bon voyage to myself. I find this incredibly apt to be typing this before I disappear from the face of the world for 5 days. That's the awesomeness of holidays. Hopefully I'll have an answer that satisfies me by the time I'm back :)

on a side note, had an awesome night yesterday yuenling kennethkoh lance gordon and fangjing. we saw sengwah and thyeboon at the gelato shop in chijmes and i can only say... singapore's really small. haha.




drank my whole month's worth of alcohol and felt much better somewhat after feeling so shitty for so long. 借酒消愁-ing. think at this rate i'd probably need to get drunk by the end of this year.

and rr's facility was OMG. i can't believe kennethkoh's working in such an awesome place! and haha the perks of being an edb officer - i get to visit many many places. :D which always somehow makes me reconsider being an engineer. after all, sciences and math have always been my strengths, not gp, not english, not history, not social studies. oh gosh, i might have taken up a wrong job after all.

anyway, horrible things aside, i'm glad for all my dearest friends :) at the kind of society we all live in, the only thing other than God that can really keep me living is the people in my life. phew.

motivation.





oh gosh, the coming week's going to be so shitty. :( :( many many first times again, and sometimes i really hate them because it's so out of my comfort zone. and that's in addition to the crazy workload ahead. gosh.

i've been trying, but sometimes i just feel so inadequate, so useless, and especially so when no one else realizes how much i've been trying to keep up on my own. don't like the idea of having to learn how to swim by throwing me into a deep sea.

i hope i survive, and may the next weekend quickly arrive. :/

i needed to hear it, and i got the answer i wanted.

nothing that i didn't expect, nothing that i wasn't prepared for. 
i can't say that it hurt like fuck, i can't say that i'm sad.

it's just... i can't describe that feeling.

it's a mixture of confusion, anger, unhappiness, frustration, relief, sadness, joy and perhaps accomplishment. i'm sure there are more feelings than the ones i've listed but for now i can't think straight.

but it's alright, in life it's always good to be brave once. more than anything i've faced myself in the mirror straight, searching for the answer i've always wanted. i think it's a baby step to creating a stronger me, someone who can do well on her own. i think i must thank Steve Jobs for really motivating me a great deal, for letting me know that sometimes you just have to put down all your baggage and walk away alone. that, of course, requires so much courage, but once you take the first step it gets much easier along the way. 

at the end of the day, i lead the life that i choose. no one has the right to take away my happiness nor modify the path that i want to take.

passion.




it's funny how i took so long, 22 years, to realise that maybe i've always been more an arts person than a science one.

i really enjoy using my right brain more. i like communicating with people, i love taking photos (something that's still growing within me), i enjoy making music with my piano, guitar, or even drums, and now that i've done my first video, i think i might love making videos too. yesterday's trip to the singapore art museum further reinforced this notion - i like making sense of the pictures and videos i see, the music and noise i hear, and more often than not i sense more connection to pieces of art (which of course, includes music), rather than numbers and analytic engineering junk.

i think it's the way singapore brought me up to be. 

we've always been psycho-ed from young of how important science and math is - especially with what they call a "knowledge-based" economy and emphasizing how singapore is a research hub, and how if you were strong in both you'll most likely succeed in life. and i grew up believing that, and the exact opposite - of how being good in the arts almost meant that you'll be useless and poor when you grow up. it might have resulted from the fact that i came from rv, since rv is predominantly famous for being a science hub, and it's pretty obvious how the school emphasizes that more than anything else through all those research programs and the many optional courses that students get to attend. 

and hence i grew up believing that i loved science.

maybe i did enjoying studying the sciences, but only because i like it more than math, languages, humanities, literature and all other things. but then again, maybe i liked the sciences simply because i haven't exposed myself to economics, film, photography, or many other things. 

which brings me to the point - what do i really like?

for the past two years, i found myself really enjoying playing the piano. i play it at least three times a week, each time i can play for an average of two hours, sometimes even more. occasionally i do play those classical pieces i was taught during the proper classes, but more than anything i enjoy playing pop - accompanying singers, improvising on the spot, and sometimes even composing right at the moment when my fingers hit the keys. i like performing and i feel confident doing so, and i like the fact that the things a human brain can come up with just using the piano itself is simply limitless.

i like playing simple pieces that touches the heart - contemporary music that soothes, much like those you listen in a posh restaurant. i like playing the keyboard with a band, especially when someone starts strumming some chords or starts grooving on the drums and everyone else starts to play naturally in a flow. 

this passion for music stays with me, and still burns strongly, but its upsetting how i can't find similar like minded among the people i hang out with simply because they were all brought up the same way as i was - being taught how being practical was the most important thing. its funny how difficult it is to truly pursue your passion here.

and now i love taking photos and editing them. i love carrying my jeremiah around, taking shots of the awesome things i see, and making memories permanent in digital form. i love travelling, because it gives me a chance to take many photos, see awesome things, and process the beautiful things in my right brain. i love adventure, because i enjoy the adrenaline rush and i like being in situations that challenges my preconceptions towards life.

now, i can proudly say i love all these, and perhaps a few more, but it sucks when i can't say that i love what i studied in the 18 schooling years, or even exclaim how i love my job (which of course, can only be definitive after i work long enough), or the many things that take the bulk of my time. eventually what i really want is to do what i love, so as to fully utilise that passion within me and at the same time, be truly happy.

but then again, human beings are such complicated creatures. who knows, maybe if i was trained in the arts instead i would have exclaimed the reverse, and who knows, if i explored the many other options around i might end up in the same place. 

eeks, i'm being incoherent. and now i think i don't even make sense.

must have been the film j and i watched yesterday at SAM. about how the director first sees what he wants to see in his film, instead of having a ready script prepared. he talks about how he starts with a huge empty white space in his mind, and then how little parts of the picture will slowly appear on this white space till it forms a complete scene, and that's how he "sees" the film even before it is made. and then he went on describing his train of thoughts, which were both deep and highly provoking, things that a normal human being using wouldn't envision or process. and that really got me thinking many things, even though now i can't really remember what the film's about.

anyway, i really loved the exhibition at SAM on video. (: as for now there's 4 films that i really liked - the one that i just described, another one about helicopters and the vietnam war, one more on how mass media depicts violence, and finally, how thai farmers react to contemporary pieces of arts from the west. i think i'm going to try searching for all of them. hehhh.

ambiguity.




every time i think of how so many things have changed in two months, my heart breaks a little bit more.

but i shall persevere. it's painful at times, especially those days i just can't help but to think about you a lot, but i do know what's meant to be will be. and if it just happens that things aren't going the way i want it to, then i can only clench my fist, bite my lips and persevere till everything fades away.

i won't send that text, i won't look at the photos, i won't reminisce the past. 

for the Lord is my hiding place, my fortress, my rest when i'm weak, and through and by Him i am strong. :)

hello mr. president.




just a quick update since i'm waiting for my hair to dry.

  1. presidential elections is unexpectedly exciting! i thought TT would have won easily, but turned out to be quite a close fight to TCB. they are recounting now, which means my poor sis has to stay at deyi sec for another few more hours typing vote counts into a computer...


  2. i'm supposed to be at vietnam from the 26th, aka yesterday onwards, with ying2's friend. and now i'm starting to regret not going cos of the 60$ increase in price of the air tickets. then again, despite how exciting joseph made it to be on whatsapp, i'm sorta glad i got to vote for PE. BUT I STILL WISH I'M WITH THE VIETS. zzz. a confused soul i am. and i do hope he manages to find my awesome tin toys there!


  3. visited the voyage night festival with j last night! :D loved the performance by Theatre Tol, a group of belgians, who acted in this show describing a inter-racial couple in singapore and how they're blessed by angels, people and everyone in the world. awesome much! (maybe i'll add the photos tomorrow or something.) we watched a few other performances and went to see some of the exhibits as well, and it was pretty fun! :D


  4. breakfast with wenyi and zhouhao at bukit timah market! was supposed to run at macritchie with her to relive the good old days but it was raining :( but its a blessing in disguise la my legs was actually a little sore from the walking last night. and who doesn't love an awesome breakfast? :P anyway it was great catching up with her!


  5. geok and ki came to my house in the afternoon for some wii :) heehee. loves house of the dead! managed to talk a bit all the way to clementi mrt and i just hope that my two dearests will stay strong despite whatever happens or has happened :)


  6. OCIP F4 + CP dinner just now. it's long overdue, with the next batch of OCIP handed over already. haha better late than never though! and i decided that i actually like korean bbq. just that it's a little too expensive... supper at maxwell was awesome though, despite being half an hour after our dinner! haha


  7. sent cy off at the airport with yy timo and kim! went all the way just for that less than one hour spent there -___- but okay la, shall be nice. after all i've known cy for a good 10 years haha.


  8. took the last train to commonwealth thinking that there's bus 61 somewhere nearby. walked around the area for 10mins and failed to find the bus stop, and then decided to just keep walking towards the jurong direction along the tracks in an attempt to look for any bus stops with a bus that can bring me home at 12.30am. i ended up walking all the way to near buona vista area, following the road to holland village. and after half an hour of walking, i finally found a bus stop with 61! waited for a mere 2 mins then the last 61 came. SUPER HENG. but i decided i shall never attempt this again because walking home from bt batok mrt is definitely faster. haha. but nonetheless i felt really happy that the transfer fees were only 9c. heehee.


  9. my legs are perpetually aching. i suspect i might be a lot heavier now, and so my legs havent developed muscles that are strong enough to support my additional weight :/ oops.


  10. spent quite some time editing my nz videos nowadays. i'm halfway done and it's already at 18 minutes. :( that's what happens after you've got 100 raw videos of footage with each lasting an average of 35 seconds. darn. but i love the program i've been using - pinnacle videospin by avid! it's so easy to learn and pick up, plus it works so much better than windows live movie maker. and knowing its by avid makes me happy cos that's the pro video editing program j and jessie use in their school! haha. *acts pro*


  11. watching the first season of kindaichi (better known as 金田一少年事件蒲) by domoto tsuyoshi on youtube! :D super old school!

on a side note, in this few days i just realised how much i don't know about myself. i used to think i knew what i want or what i'm looking for, but now i'm not so sure. time after time i find myself contradicting myself, and as time goes by i just get too tired to think properly and in the end, i just choose the easiest way out - escaping.

which by now, i've realised, simply serves to drag the problem longer. but then again it might be a necessary evil, because it provides me the time and space which i desperately need. i just don't understand myself any longer, and i need that environment to start figuring out what i truly want.

and to that person, i'm truly sorry over whatever you've been going through for that past dunno-how-many months. and for being a dumbass and not noticing a single thing all these while. kennethkoh was very right, i'm really very stupid (which i have to state once again, i'm really sorry my friend). wished i were smarter at such things then perhaps many things would have been different.

and by the way, note to self, feelings are overrated. i stand by this belief of mine. so what if your heart skips a beat? so what if that person keeps appearing in your mind over and over again? how can you be sure it's not temporal? and how can feelings feed you or even make you happy? i'm starting to hate such feelings, especially if in the end all it does is to break your heart. being together with someone is supposed to be a happy thing after all, and sometimes feelings itself can just never make one happy enough.

alright, i must say that i'm not emo or whatsoever, just a little sad and that's because i've been having too much time in my hands, which naturally leads to, well, thinking not so good things after all the happy thoughts have been thought about. i still try to be that happy self i want to be most of the time!

upon graduation.






it hasn't been a good week at all, though i've been trying to make the best out of what life throws me. it's like i've officially grown up already since convocation ended, and growing up means having a new set of problems to face. i'm just glad that at least i have a bunch of reliable friends who would listen to me rant about the many things that happened, lend me their shoulder for a good cry, and share me the beer to get drunk on. 

i know that things can only get better from now on, so all i need is a little patience.

but as time passes, i get a little more confused with regards to one of those things. i've always thought things went well at that period of time, we were happy and spending some awesome time together, and making memories that were unique to us. but now, after such a long time, i've just realised that i've merely been trying to clap with one hand. i just feel damn stupid for letting my guard down, for disabling my self-defense mechanisms that i've built up all these years, and eventually all i get is a stab in the back. 

又再一次遍体鳞伤。

it feels like it's all my fault and i brought it upon myself. as sad as i may sound, i'm not emo, more than anything its just hurt and frustration, and perhaps a little tinge of self-despise. i hate myself for not being smarter, for thinking too much into things, for innocently believing and trusting you, for not being able to tell what's what. and now i've no one to blame for your nonchalance. 

perhaps i should have been a little more frank, with you, and with myself. but as i know more and more things with  time, it just gets harder and harder, and the reasons for not being honest just accumulates itself. and now, it has reached the inevitable point of giving up. i wanna quit playing this game, because it's simply too exhausting playing on my own, and i'm just too tired to continue. 

and so, this time, my haircut didn't work ): but keeping myself occupied did, like how i played some awesome polo last night, and like how i spent the day in hall 9 today helping freshies move into their rooms and introducing them to the different parts of hall. i'm glad i've got more things to keep me occupied with the next few days.

insomnia




freak i can't sleep i can't sleep i can't sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.


the second morning i've woken up at 5.30am straight ): in kiwi context, it makes sense since it's 9.30am, but heck, i'm back at home, and i need to fix this body clock of mineeeeeeeee.

and you know what's the worst part of this? lying on my bed for an hour trying to get to sleep but all i could do is to think about it. i can't brush it off, i can't put it away. ): ): it's been such a struggle, because even now whenever i'm placed in a situation with nothing to do it just runs all over my mind and there's just nothing i could do. 

i feel damn terrible. :/ get out of my mind, please.

rahhh

rather unknowingly I let shit enter my life again. I really hate those guessing, emoing, and periods of uncertainty that seem to remove joy from my life. I really need to get a grip of myself, to revert back to the me two years ago who can confidently say I don't give a damn. but the as age catches up on me I'm forced to think, maybe cos of social pressures, maybe cos I know its not possible to keep going on with my way of life. everyone grows up, unwilling we may be, but in the end its inevitable.

since the year started, many things happened, and all of those came and went. all kinds of people, all kinds of situation. I think since I prayed about it the beginning of this year, He's been teaching me many lessons as if to catch up with the lost time, allowing me to understand myself better through others, and of cos, preparing me for the right one in the end. some hurt more than others, and while there is some joy derived, I can only say, ouch.

the period of uncertainty will continue on nonetheless, but now what's more important is how I deal with it. as cliche as it may be, happiness is a choice. when life throws you lemons, make lemonade. that simple.

on a lighter note, just came back from a service at a traditional anglican church near my backpackers hostel in christchurch. I can finally see some connection between the anglican and catholic beliefs. its a great service nonetheless, although I'm the only person aged below 60 it still feels fuzzy and welcoming. took the holy communion as well, and chatted with the pastor for a while, then walked around the streets till the backpackers office opened (so that they could open the door for me).

and home in another three day's time. too fast. wanna stay here longer, partially cos I don't really want to face the things back home. roars.

sucks.

the trick is to seem perfectly normal even if you're feeling damn fucked up inside. and no, I'm not referring to my travel buddies, they're more than what I could ask for. I'm talking about things back home in sunny Singapore.

no thanks to the three months of emotional rollercoaster. I had enough and finally reached my limits. even if I continued holding on nothing's gonna change.

and to quote Andy, I don't deserve this shit and you don't deserve my time. and so I'm going to leave what's left in this kiwi land.

that's the probability of something happening, imo. don't ask me why, the number just struck me.

had a few intelligent conversations today! :D PAP & their policies with sis and bro-in-law, and then about christianity, horoscopes and prophet muhammad with justin. i love such debates and exchange of ideas because i really learn so much from them and it humbles me from the knowledge of how little i actually know about many things.

visiting sis was an awesome decision :D got many many things for nz and also had a great time catching up! :) loves my sis v much! actually, i really love my family. though i don't really express it to them directly (actually my whole family doesn't) i really appreciate their mere existence in my life. :) my parents have always cared for me selflessly, while my sis and bro has always been giving generously when it comes to me. we have had bad times, but in the end i know how much they love me and i hope they too know how much i love them! :D

anyway it's good that i'm thinking less now, after so many days have passed. the constant self reminders of the importance of being in control of my own emotions have taken effect and the many distractions and numerous events have proven to be very useful in taking things away from the mind as well :) i really think what doesn't kill makes you stronger.

and it's funny how i believe in getting what you want through the declaration of faith but yet when it comes to this i can't bring myself to declare it. too little confidence? maybe. but the little evidences of the past just made me feel this way, and i can't help it. the only and best thing i can do now is to simply leave it to Him. if it's to be, He'll make a way. and if it's not, then i know there's probably a better plan for me sometime later.

being very random here. but it's good to straighten thoughts once in a while. and there's so much i wanna learn!

epic fail.



i am super blurrrrrrrr. promised something not realising the true intentions of the favour. HOW BLUR CAN I GETTT. ):

i feel bad after. like seriously :/

i'm still not good at handling such things, really. i lived 22 years of my life like this, and i guess it'll always be the same even in the future. why can't things be a little more simpler?

rahhhh. and the half an hour walk yesterday night to 14 actually made me a little emo, which afterwards i decided to walk even slower to clear up the emotions. i think the time of the month's coming. but at least i think i know what to do now, except for the fact that sometimes i forget about it and sink myself into the moments, andden when i think back about it it becomes many should-haves and should-have-nots. andden i get slightly emo again and the vicious cycle repeats.

to be frank it's getting tiring, which is why i always avoided such situations ):

my prayers are seriously working. daddy God is blessing me with abundance, and i know someday the one who's missing one rib cos of me will be there. :) or maybe he's around but the time isn't right, or perhaps i'm meant to do bigger things right now. :D

anyway! on a lighter note, had a infernal affairs movie marathon ytd at 14! haha we started only at almost 2am la. tskkkk. and after watching the first disk, which is like 1.5 movies we couldnt take it and went to slp -__- and by the time we woke up it was like 1pm! so ate lunch dabaoed from 13 (yummy korean bbq chicken plus cheese fries!) then planned NZ (and it looks super awesome now!) then did fyp presentation, called kfc delivery, ate kfc for dinner, and finally another round of infernal affairs. and we finally finished it! at like 11pm :/ hahaha. then den biked me back and now i'm happily back in hall :D

shouldn't go 14 too often -___- zzzz. but all because my dearest pals all abandon me! ): misses the timbre 6 (wah qt a nice name ah!)

and now, time to get my laundry, wash loi's pot, and start on my fyp presentation. roars.

the city limits



just two very awesome videos, including the ever-so-awesome 2NE1 and awesome time lapse photos from canada! :D gotta visit the place some time in my lifetime. though i'm not exactly a fan of big cities, i think it's still going to be awesome!

and hmm. maybe i should go learn how to take time lapse photos. then i shall take at the official darkest place of nz! heh. the sky there is going to be captivating max. i can almost imagine screaming and crying like how the person in the double rainbow video did :D

which reminds me, i still owe a lot of blogposts, including that from nias, china and russia! omg. gotta do something abt it now that i'm incredibly free. :D :D :D




and btw, i'm officially ooc. o.O there's still much time to think about this though, and being the very inexperienced me i shall take my time to confirm what i really want in this life. sigh.

week 13.



if this were a 1km race set, i would be at the 5th last buoy, starting on my final burst.

if this were a canoepolo game, this would be the very last 30s, and we're waiting for a final winning shot at the goal.

if this were a band concert, we'll be at the last movement, making the finale as grand as we can.

and once the race ends, game finishes, concert closes, no matter the outcome, i know i'm just going to miss this very much. thank you for the 4 years, NTU. might not be the best education around but i've made a couple of best friends there :)

i'm already missing lectures. :(
