Woke up in the hotel in medan at 4.15am and left the place by 4.45am hoping to take the free transport to the airport provided by the hotel. We reached the airport really early in the end and had to wait quite a while before we could actually board the plane.
This time we took Riau Airlines, unlike the Merpati we took earlier. But the aircraft does look so much more stable than that of merpati’s, which i feel has a high risk of accident given the age of the aircraft and its unstable looking structure o.O Riau on the other hand seemed so much more luxurious.
We reached Gunung Sitoli at about 8am and waited quite a bit for the luggage, since everything in the airport is manual. Not a single sign of technology except the plane itself. By the time we boarded the van and left it was already 9. Subsequently, we travelled across Nias to get to the home, and in between we had a few pitstops to get lunch, provisions, and phone cards along the way. By the time we reached Tomorrow’s Hope it was already 11plus.
We initially bunked in to a different place from the last time i came, but after a while prof heng thought it was better for us to rebunk into the same ole room since it has a water dispenser and a fridge, which is crucial in meeting our needs on really hot days.
Ate lunch at ibu’s place andden we began our usual Niasian lazy afternoon. Except that because the place isn’t cleaned we decided to do some housekeeping and clean the whole place up. Rinsed our very huge toilet and mopped everywhere else we would possibly go to.
After one hour of cleaning, we decided to join the kids for lunch so that toh and i can say our hellos to the kids (: they still remember us! Super happy. But i really didn’t know how to answer them when they started asking the rest of the team who visited previously. Roars. After lunch we started lazing around and ryan did his accounts etc. Liya was sleeping all the way because she wasn’t feeling well. After some lazing toh and i decided that the heat in our dorm is unbearable and so we headed to pastor’s block which seemed much cooler (: had a short nap and woke up feeling goooood (:
After talking to pastor and ibu about the things that happened to Nias after we left, pastor suggested to go footballing and so the guys being guys happily agreed. Liya and i decided to go and look around and so pastor brought us around. I was particularly impressed by the chicken coop because i felt that the team that came previously had their contribution well used, and it was warm and fuzzy to reminisce the times we stood by the structure hammering nails onto the planks and worrying whether the chickens would trip and fall.
It was really nice anyway. The chicken coop now holds about 1000 chickens and so the kids there have abundance of chicken and even some extra income since they sell most of the chickens away (:
After looking around we decided to drop by the kitchen. Ibu sintha then requested for our help so we gladly agreed! Liya and i chopped some spring onions and tomatoes for the omelette which tasted fabulous (: haha. We then helped to mash some coconut stuff into pulp and oil. Amazing, as usual.
After helping in the kitchen i went out to play with the kids in the dining area, and they very nicely gave me some of their masterpieces! Super nice can (: haha. love the kids.
Then went back to dorm to clean up a little and hung around outside the dorm just to spend time with the kids. Loveeeeeee. I miss them all.
At about 8, which is about 2 hours of lagging around with the kids, we had our very awesome dinner! To be frank i didn’t expect myself to be able to eat such Niasian cuisine again last time, but now that i’ve gotten to eat it i’m appreciating it a lot more. Love the vege. Ibu also opened some canned food for the sgreans who are there (another Christian group was with us).
After dinner was just singing outside the dining room. I love their voices. I missed it so much.
Then half an hour later was devotion and we had it outside. Sang lingkupiku with the kids again! :D i still remember haha. After that we did our self introductions andden headed to the sides to watch the celebration they planned for us, which was like some shots of cannon you see during NDP. Except its made of bamboo poles and kerosene inside of it, which one closed end. Sounds familiar to some? It’s basically the same concept of rocket propulsion. OMG.
Lazed around after the welcoming and wanted to watch some shooting stars but failed to see any thanks to the cloud cover. Disappointed.
And so after saying our goodbyes and good nights we headed back to the dorm and bathed in total darkness except for the little light emitted from the same torch i’m using now to light up my keyboard.
Anyways! I’m really glad to be back. I was quite uncertain about the kids’ reactions to my return and was even afraid that they’ll forget me. But turned out they didn’t! And still treated me super nice. Even hendricrus imman and kurniaman remembers. I’m so impressed! Loved them loadsssss.
So now i guess its time for bed. It’s been a long, tiring day. I need more rest!! But i’m still happy. Looking forward to the rest of the days to come!
+ guaishou's! :D
